The Collector's Cabinet
The Collector’s Cabinet explores fine enamel articles, vertu objects, micromosaics, bronze sculpture and more, perfect for the kunstkammer or any well-appointed tabletop. Nearly two hundred lots comprising objects from multiple centuries are sure to spark curiosity, conversation and connoisseurship. The auction is anchored by property from the Estate of Bliss Hebert and Allen Charles Klein. Hebert and Klein shared homes in Miami, New York and France, building a meaningful collection of “grand tour?? art objects, Biedermeier furniture and European works of art. The Collector’s Cabinet is the first of four auctions to feature part of Hebert and Klein’s collection.

Taking its title from the iconic Currier & Ives print depicting George Washington as the “Father" and Abraham Lincoln as the “Savior" of the nation, The Fathers and the Saviors of Our Country: A Presidential Sale brings together extraordinary artifacts that trace the arc of American leadership from the founding generation through the crucible of Civil War and beyond. At its heart are objects that illuminate the character, conviction, and consequence of the men who shaped the Republic—Founding Fathers who forged a new government from revolution, and Presidents who preserved, tested, and redefined it in moments of profound national trial. These figures were not only officeholders but architects of American identity, guiding the country through independence, expansion, division, and reunion. The sale features numerous works appearing for the first time at auction, including a previously unknown oil portrait of a beardless Abraham Lincoln by Charles Barry—an arresting likeness from the earliest period of his national ascent. Also offered is an autograph memorandum penned by Lincoln on September 22, 1862, the very day he delivered the Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, a document that stands at the moral and constitutional turning point of the Civil War. Complementing these is a significant archive relating to John Wilkes Booth, whose assassination of President Lincoln on April 14, 1865, was the final, horrific trial of a nation already reeling from four years of war.
